Wave's Beach Queens line presents Souryuu Asuka Langley from Shin Seiki Evangelion in the Comic Ver., a 1/10 scale figure standing approximately 160mm tall. Made from ABS and PVC, this figure was released on April 25, 2016. Neon Genesis Evangelion is a landmark mecha anime set in a post-apocalyptic world where teenagers pilot bio-mechanical units called Evangelions to combat mysterious beings known as Angels. Asuka Langley Soryu is the pilot of Evangelion Unit-02, a fiery and competitive girl whose aggressive personality masks deep-seated trauma. Her complex relationship with protagonist Shinji Ikari is one of the series' defining dynamics. This Comic Ver. is specifically based on the character designs by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, the manga's character designer, rather than the anime adaptation. The figure reproduces Sadamoto's delicate linework and expressions in three-dimensional form, with prototype sculpting by Yozo and Ogawa. It includes a beach ball in Evangelion Unit-02 colors and features Wave's standardized H-joint neck system, allowing for subtle pose adjustments.
