AmiAmi is the Japan cart English-speaking collectors still open first. Not because shipping is kind. Because the yen price is.
r/AnimeFigures spent a 2023 thread asking why anyone still pays them. The answers were surface mail and pre-order discounts. DHL is the courier. AmiAmi is the cheap cart. A 2025 shipping thread is the same fight with new acronyms. ECMS versus DHL fees. r/AnimeMerchandise asked if the site was even real. Regulars treated that as a first-week question.
MyFigureCollection keeps a partner shop thread for AmiAmi that runs dozens of pages. The opening list is discounts, exclusives, pre-owned, and a hard no on casual cancels. The shop page has a few hundred collector reviews.
Trustpilot is the other pile. About 3.4 from roughly 290 signed reviews, with a fat 1-star slice. Those are closed accounts and shipping quotes. Reddit and MFC are the people who stayed.
4.6 from us. The goods show up and they are real. Read the cancel rules before you click pre-order.
Staff score from the named threads below. It is not a collector writeup on FigureMemo and it does not move the ranked average.
Public collector threads and signed review pages we read. The sentence under each link is ours. We do not paste comments.
- Why are people still buying from AmiAmi
Collectors say AmiAmi is still the cheap yen cart. Surface shipping is how they dodge EMS prices. The shop is not the one setting DHL rates.
Open source ↗ - What is buying off AmiAmi like?
First-order writeups. Pay the invoice in a short window. Shipping is extra and unknown until they weigh the box. Cancels get the account closed.
Open source ↗ - AmiAmi Shipping
US collectors arguing DHL surprise fees versus ECMS. This is courier talk, not a scam thread.
Open source ↗ - Amiami - is it legit?
New buyers asking if the site is real. Regulars call it the default Japan shop and warn that shipping from Japan is the expensive part.
Open source ↗ - MFC partner shop thread for AmiAmi
Dozens of pages of collector replies on the official AmiAmi feedback thread. Discounts and pre-owned on the plus side. Cancels are the minus.
Open source ↗ - AmiAmi shop page on MFC
A few hundred collector reviews sit on the AmiAmi shop page. That is a catalog of human scores, not a staff writeup.

AmiAmi is the English-language shop most collectors use for a first pre-order out of Japan. You pick a figure on the site, pay in yen, and wait through the factory month. When Good Smile or Alter slips a release, AmiAmi usually moves your order with it and sends mail. They do not typically cancel a paid pre-order because they miscounted stock. Shipping is where opinions split. Surface mail is cheap and slow. EMS and DHL cost more and land in days, not months. Packing is cardboard, air pillows, and the manufacturer's box. It is not a museum crate. Figures usually arrive uncracked. They sell official goods. Pre-owned listings are their own warehouse stock with a grade, not a random Yahoo auction. They ship from Saitama to most countries. Customs and VAT are yours. If you want one default Japanese retailer for a Nendoroid or a scale, this is still that default, which is why a delayed month shows up in so many collector threads. Rate the order you actually received, not the reputation.

The first useful review is one order: what you bought, where it shipped, what arrived.
