Mumei is a mysterious young girl who reveals herself to be a Kabaneri, a hybrid between human and Kabane. She is the adoptive younger sister of Biba Amatori, leader of the Hunters. Despite her childlike demeanor and tendency to treat combat as a game, she possesses immense strength and a deep commitment to protecting others. Her relationship with fellow Kabaneri Ikoma forms the emotional core of the series as they journey aboard the Koutetsujou armored train. The Tanabata version depicts Mumei in a yukata inspired by the traditional Japanese star festival.
