FREEing presents Ikari Shinji from the Rebuild of Evangelion film series in their Y-style line at 1/8 scale, Yukata Ver. This figure captures the series protagonist dressed in a traditional summer yukata. Shinji Ikari is the protagonist of Evangelion, recruited by his estranged father Gendo to pilot Evangelion Unit-01 against the Angels in Tokyo-3. After witnessing his mother Yui's death as a child, he was abandoned by his father. He is emotionally hypersensitive and sometimes complies out of fear of rejection, yet often rebels and refuses to pilot due to harm done to him and his friends. He repeats I mustn't run away as encouragement, though he has a lingering habit of withdrawing from traumatic events. Director Anno described him as a boy who shrinks from human contact and has convinced himself he is completely unnecessary. Sculpted by Pinpoint and Kana, this 1/8 scale figure stands approximately 220mm tall. The Yukata Ver. presents Shinji in traditional Japanese summer attire, offering a refreshing interpretation of the character outside his usual pilot context.
