Nintendo's Amiibo line brings Cloud Strife to life as part of the Dairantou Smash Bros. (Super Smash Bros.) series for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. This Amiibo figure represents the iconic protagonist as he appears in the fourth and fifth installments of the Super Smash Bros. fighting game franchise, which pit characters from across Nintendo's library and beyond against one another. Cloud Strife is the main protagonist of Final Fantasy VII, originally released on the PlayStation. Wielding his massive Buster Sword, Cloud is a former SOLDIER operative who joins the eco-terrorist group AVALANCHE to fight the corrupt Shinra Electric Power Company. In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, Cloud was introduced as a downloadable fighter, bringing his signature Limit Break mechanics and powerful sword techniques to the crossover fighting arena. This Amiibo was released by Nintendo on July 21, 2017. As with all Amiibo figures, it features NFC functionality that allows it to interact with compatible Nintendo games, unlocking special features and training a computer-controlled fighter that learns and adapts as you play with it.
