Alter presents Asahina Mikuru in a Maid Ver. from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, scaled at 1/8 and standing approximately 200mm tall. Sculpted by Numakura Toshiaki from PVC, the figure retailed at 5,800 JPY with product code 4560228201871. Mikuru Asahina is a main character in the Haruhi Suzumiya franchise and the fourth member to join the SOS Brigade, joining against her will after Haruhi Suzumiya effectively kidnapped her from the calligraphy club. Haruhi理由ed that every interesting story needs an alluring, moe-looking character, and from then on Mikuru became a symbol of cosplay and mascot to Haruhi's whims. She is secretly a time traveler from the future who came back to observe Haruhi, though she often cannot discuss details, famously responding to Kyon's questions with "That's classified." Despite being an upperclassman, she is shy and frequently harassed by Haruhi, who uses her as eye candy for the brigade. The maid version figure captures Mikuru in one of the many costumes Haruhi forces her to wear, reflecting her role as the brigade's reluctant mascot.
