Ika Musume follows the story of a squid girl who emerges from the sea with the intention of invading humanity as punishment for ocean pollution. However, her invasion plans quickly go awry when she accidentally breaks a wall at the Aizawa family's beachside restaurant and is forced to work there to pay off the damages. Ika Musume, as she comes to be known, possesses squid-like abilities including tentacle hair that can regenerate and ink she can spit when flustered. Despite her fearsome invasion rhetoric, she is fundamentally innocent and good-natured, gradually becoming part of the seaside community she originally sought to conquer.
