Nodoka Manabe is Yui Hirasawa's childhood friend and a key supporting character in K-ON! Initially a member of Sakuragaoka High School's student council, she later becomes its president during her third year. Polite, smart, and structured, Nodoka is extraordinarily reliable and mature for her age — virtually the archetype of a successful student. She knows Yui's shortcomings better than anyone besides Ui Hirasawa and can be strict when necessary, though she always acts as a true and forgiving friend. She quickly befriended Mio Akiyama in their second year, saving Mio from a year without acquaintances. Nodoka also unexpectedly inherited the role of president of the Mio Akiyama Fan Club after Megumi Sokabe graduated. As the eldest of three siblings, she is notably independent.
