Despite his violent reputation, Shizuo is fundamentally a kind person who despises violence, creating a constant internal contradiction. His ongoing feud with the information broker Izaya Orihara is one of the central dynamics of the series, and his signature ability to throw vending machines and other heavy objects makes him both feared and respected throughout Ikebukuro's underground.
