Naoe Kanetsugu is a fierce warrior in the Hyakka Ryouran universe, an alternate history setting where samurai girls serve under master samurai through special contracts. Kanetsugu wields a decorated, oversized sledgehammer capable of knocking down heavy gates and creating fissures in the ground. Her character arc takes a dramatic turn when, feeling responsible for being a liability to her dojo, she attempts to leave silently in the night but is ambushed and defeated by Araki Mataemon. She is rescued from near death by Muneakira, whose emotional desperation during CPR forms a spiritual connection that transforms into a contract kiss, making Kanetsugu his Fifth Master Samurai.
