About this figure

Bandai's Movie Monster Series brings Ebirah from the 1966 Toho film Gojira, Ebirah, Mothra: Nankai no Daikettou, also known internationally as Ebirah, Horror of the Deep or Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster. The figure stands approximately 260mm tall as part of Bandai's long-running kaiju figure line. The film, directed by Jun Fukuda, is the seventh entry in the Godzilla franchise and features special effects by Sadamasa Arikawa under the supervision of Eiji Tsuburaya. In the story, a group of adventurers led by Ryota, who is searching for his lost brother Yata, steals a yacht and encounters Ebirah, a giant lobster-like creature, before washing ashore on Letchi Island. There, they discover the Red Bamboo terrorist organization manufacturing heavy water for weapons of mass destruction while enslaving natives from Infant Island. Ebirah is kept at bay by a yellow liquid produced by the enslaved natives, and Godzilla is awakened from within a cliffside cavern to battle the crustacean. The film was originally intended to feature King Kong instead of Godzilla but was reworked during development. It was released in Japan on December 17, 1966, and later aired on American television in 1968.
