Tetsuwan Atom, created by Osamu Tezuka, is widely regarded as one of the foundational works of modern anime and manga. Dr. Ochanomizu, known in some English adaptations as Dr. Elefun, is the kindly scientist and head of the Ministry of Science who serves as a guardian and mentor figure to the robot boy Atom. He is recognizable by his distinctive large nose and is one of the most beloved characters in Tezuka's robotics-focused narrative about a world where humans and robots coexist.
