About this figure
This figure from Unbox Industries depicts Yatsu, the protagonist of the cult film Tetsuo: The Iron Man, directed by Shinya Tsukamoto. The figure is a collaboration between sculptor Takashi Oda, Tsukamoto, and Unbox Industries. Tetsuo: The Iron Man is a landmark 1989 Japanese cyberpunk body horror film that follows a salaryman who begins to undergo a grotesque transformation as metal objects progressively fuse with and emerge from his body. The film is renowned for its industrial aesthetic, frenetic editing, and exploration of themes surrounding technology, body horror, and the merging of flesh and machine. Yatsu, the metal fetishist, is a central figure whose collision with the protagonist sets the bizarre and disturbing narrative in motion. The film has achieved significant cult status and is considered a defining work of Japanese cyberpunk cinema. The figure stands approximately 241mm tall and has been released in multiple color variants, including an Indigo Iron edition. Unbox Industries has produced this as part of their lineup of designer and art figures.
