About this figure

Playmates Toys presents Radon (Rodan) from the 1956 film Sora no Daikaijuu Radon, the third kaiju film produced by Toho and the first to feature a monster other than Godzilla. This figure stands approximately 203mm tall and is made from PVC and soft vinyl materials. The original 1956 film was directed by Ishirô Honda and holds the distinction of being the first color kaiju film. It featured giant pteranodon-like creatures awakened from underground, alongside the creepy prehistoric meganulon insects. The film's American release made fewer changes than were typically imposed on Godzilla films. Rodan would go on to become one of Toho's most iconic kaiju, appearing in numerous subsequent films alongside Godzilla and other monsters. Playmates Toys, known for their Godzilla vs. Kong figure line, brings this classic 1956 version of Rodan to collectors. The figure captures the vintage design of the character as it appeared in the original Toho production.
