Amy Rose made her first appearance in Sonic the Hedgehog CD, where she was introduced as a young girl who becomes attached to Sonic after being captured by Metal Sonic. In her classic incarnation, Amy is characterized by her cheerful personality and infatuation with the blue hedgehog. Her debut in Sonic CD placed her in the role of a damsel in distress, but the character would later evolve into a capable hammer-wielding heroine in subsequent games.
