JoyRide Studios produced the Sonic the Hedgehog figure as part of their Joyride Figures Series 1, based on Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. This figure represents one of the earliest licensed Sonic collectibles on the market. Sonic Adventure 2: Battle is the enhanced GameCube port of Sonic Adventure 2, a game that introduced Shadow the Hedgehog and expanded the Sonic universe with dual hero and dark story campaigns. The JoyRide Studios figures were notable for their bendy limb construction rather than traditional articulated joints, allowing them to closely resemble the characters' official artwork. Each figure came with a gray display base shaped like a Dash Panel from the game, a sticker of the Sonic Adventure 2: Battle logo, and a small card containing a review of the game. The figures also featured holes in their shoes for posing on the base. This Sonic figure was later re-released in JoyRide's Series 5 with a newly colored red base featuring the Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut logo, making the original Series 1 release a sought-after collectible for Sonic fans.
