About this figure
This original figure from the Hyakkiyakoh line features Jorougumo Gyaru-san, a creative interpretation of the jorougumo yokai from Japanese folklore. The figure represents an original design rather than a character from an existing anime or game series. The jorougumo is a spider yokai from Japanese folklore, depicted in Toriyama Sekien's Gazu Hyakki Yagyō as a spider woman capable of manipulating small fire-breathing spiders. In Edo period writings such as the Taihei-Hyakumonogatari and Tonoigusa, jorougumo are described as spiders that shapeshift into beautiful women to ensnare unwary victims. The name also refers to the golden orb-weaver spider (Trichonephila clavata), and legends tell of these creatures luring travelers to their doom near waterfalls. The Hyakkiyakoh line draws inspiration from the Hyakki Yagyō, the legendary night parade of one hundred demons. This figure reimagines the jorougumo in a gyaru-inspired aesthetic, blending traditional yokai lore with contemporary Japanese pop culture styling.
