Sum-Art presents The Blood Rain, an original bust sculpted by Tian Qi based on the artwork of Liu Dongzi. This Bronze Version depicts Sun Wukong, the Monkey King from the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West, in the aftermath of a fierce battle. Liu Dongzi has admired the character of Sun Wukong since childhood, and his artwork portrays the monkey king with rebellious intensity and vitality. The Blood Rain focuses on Sun Wukong's expression after battle, capturing a cold, murderous aura drenched in blood. Sculptor Tian Qi, who graduated from the University of Hertfordshire with a degree in Character Creation and Special Effects, brought extensive film sculpture experience to the project, having contributed to films such as The Taking of Tiger Mountain and The Battle at Lake Changjin. The sculpt deliberately avoids the typical wide-eyed furious portrayal, instead showing exhaustion tempered with a glint of killing intent. This Bronze Version has an edition size of 99 and stands approximately 190mm tall. The piece was sculpted using oil-based clay to achieve rough, textured lines faithful to Liu Dongzi's original paintings.
