Cominica and Tezuka Productions released this Clear version figure of Rock from the 2001 anime film Metropolis. The figure features a translucent finish that gives the character a distinctive appearance compared to standard opaque figure releases. Metropolis is a spectacular animated film written by Katsuhiro Otomo, known for Akira, and directed by Rintaro of Galaxy Express 999 fame. Set in a sprawling industrial, tri-level city, the story follows Duke Red, a powerful leader who plans to unveil a highly advanced robot named Tima. Rock is Duke Red's violent and deeply distrustful son who is determined to find and destroy Tima, seeing the robot as a threat. His antagonistic actions drive much of the film's conflict as he pursues Tima through the labyrinth beneath Metropolis, where she has begun a friendship with a young detective's nephew. The Clear version treatment gives Rock's figure an ethereal, ghostlike quality that reflects the film's themes of humanity and artificiality. The figure is produced by Cominica in collaboration with Tezuka Productions, the studio associated with Osamu Tezuka's legacy.
