This Minilla figure is part of Bandai's Movie Monster Series, a long-running line of approximately 6-inch Godzilla franchise figures that began in 2001. The figure stands approximately 150mm tall and represents Minilla as seen in the 1967 film Kaijuu-tou no Kessen Gojira no Musuko, known internationally as Son of Godzilla. The Movie Monster Series line was created as a successor to Bandai's earlier Toho Kaiju Series, featuring figures with updated vinyl colors and paint highlights designed to more closely resemble the monsters' on-screen appearances. The line has covered monsters from across the Godzilla franchise's long history, from Showa era creatures through to modern incarnations. Each figure comes with a distinctive tag featuring the monster's image on the front and a head-shot of the Godzilla from the corresponding era on the back. Minilla, the adopted son of Godzilla, first appeared in the 1967 film where Godzilla takes on a parental role after the creature hatches from an egg on Monster Island. The character became a recognizable part of the Showa era Godzilla roster.
