This Green Mantis soft vinyl figure is part of Medicom Toy's Toei Retro Sofubi Collection, based on the classic tokusatsu series Jinzou Ningen Kikaider (Android Kikaider). Standing approximately 240mm tall, the figure was released in July 2012 as a prepainted sofubi collectible. Jinzou Ningen Kikaider is a 1972 Toei production about an android named Jiro who struggles with the conflict between his conscience circuit and the destructive programming installed by the villainous Professor Gill. The series is notable for its darker, more philosophical tone compared to other tokusatsu of the era, exploring themes of free will and moral choice. Green Mantis is one of the many robotic monsters that Kikaider faces throughout the series, part of the evil Destructoid army created by the DARK organization. The Toei Retro Sofubi Collection reimagines classic Toei characters in the traditional soft vinyl style reminiscent of vintage tokusatsu toys.
