In Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla, the Japanese government assembles its greatest scientific minds to construct a bioweapon using the bones of the original 1954 Godzilla. The resulting mech, christened Mechagodzilla, is piloted by an elite JSDF team including Akane Yashiro, the lone survivor of an earlier Maser-gun battle against Godzilla. When the mech's memories are stirred by Godzilla's roar, the battle ends in a draw, and the Prime Minister resigns. Godzilla returns for a final confrontation where Akane must take direct control of Mechagodzilla to defend Japan.
