About this figure
Run'a produced this Variarts figure of Doraemon depicting the character from the short film "2112: The Birth of Doraemon," which serves as a prequel to the main Doraemon franchise. The figure stands approximately 55mm tall and is designated as Variarts figure 001. The short film reveals Doraemon's origin story, set on September 3, 2112, at the Matsushiba Robot Factory. A power surge caused by temporal terrorists results in a lightning bolt striking the factory-new Doraemon while on a conveyor belt, causing an explosion that ejects a metal screw and sends him tumbling into a dump truck headed for an industrial furnace. He is saved at the last moment by Noramyako, a dancer cat automaton who grabs him with her tail. Doraemon then returns to the academy where Principal Teraodai informs the cat automatons they are purposed as child caretakers, though Doraemon's performance is notably poor across several areas. This compact 5.5-centimeter figure captures Doraemon in his pre-Nobita era appearance from the origin story.
