Kitan Club produced this special Hagoita no Fuchiko figure as an Aeon exclusive release, part of the Aeon no Osechi x Cup no Fuchiko collaboration. Standing approximately 50mm tall, this prepainted figure represents a unique crossover edition of the beloved capsule toy character. Fuchiko is the star of Cup no Fuchiko, a wildly popular series of capsule toys created by Kitan Club. The character is designed to perch on the rim of cups, with poses ranging from hanging and sitting to balancing and grabbing. Her simple yet charming design has made her a cultural phenomenon in Japan, spawning numerous collaborations with brands, events, and seasonal campaigns. This particular version ties into the Japanese New Year tradition of osechi, the special boxed meals prepared for the holiday. This Aeon exclusive was available for preorder from October through December 2015, with the figure released in January 2016 as part of a special osechi box set. The Hagoita version references the decorative paddles traditionally associated with New Year celebrations in Japan.
