Bandai presents Cthulhu from the Cthulhu Mythos, the shared universe of cosmic horror originated by H.P. Lovecraft and expanded by associated writers including August Derleth, Clark Ashton Smith, and Robert E. Howard. The term "Cthulhu Mythos" was coined by Derleth to categorize the interconnected elements, characters, and settings used across Lovecraft's literary circle. Cthulhu is one of the Great Old Ones—ancient cosmic entities of unfathomable power that exist beyond human comprehension. Sleeping in the sunken city of R'lyeh, Cthulhu represents the mythos' core theme: the insignificance of humanity in the face of a vast, indifferent cosmos. As Lovecraft himself wrote, the mythos explores a universe where "common human laws and interests and emotions have no validity or significance in the vast cosmos-at-large." Standing approximately 200mm tall, this figure is crafted from ABS and PVC materials, bringing the legendary entity to three-dimensional form.
