About this figure

This Boshi Jizo figure is produced by Honda Koji Shokai and stands approximately 110mm tall. It is a prepainted figure released in January 2017 as a limited edition item in Japan. Boshi Jizo, meaning mother-and-child Jizo, refers to the Buddhist deity Jizo Bosatsu, who is revered in Japanese tradition as a protector of children, travelers, and expectant mothers. Statues of Jizo are commonly found at temples throughout Japan, often adorned with red bibs or clothing as offerings. A notable Boshi Jizo statue depicting a mother and child can be found on the grounds of Senso-ji, Tokyo's oldest temple, where it is partly covered with red woolen clothing as a devotional gesture. Honda Koji Shokai also produced a smaller Boshi Jizo Mini variant standing 70mm tall, released in January 2023 through BOOTH. The figures capture the serene, compassionate imagery associated with this beloved Buddhist icon.
