About this figure
Honda Koji Shokai presents the Boshi Jizo, a prepainted figure standing at approximately 110mm tall. This figure is a miniature representation of the Boshi Jizō (母子地蔵), which translates to "Mother and Child Jizō." The original Boshi Jizō statue was created after World War II as a memorial for Japanese mothers and children who were trapped in Manchuria and could not return to Japan amid the chaos at the end of the war. Many perished in exile or were permanently separated from their families. The statue was built to comfort their spirits and to express a collective prayer of "never repeat the mistake of war." The original statue is located at Sensoji in Asakusa, Tokyo. This prepainted figure was released in January 2017 by Honda Koji Shokai, offering collectors a meaningful miniature of this historically significant memorial.
